Weekly production
A week in the life of an issue
An example cadence for a Monday issue in Asia/Riyadh time. The editor-in-chief chooses the real release day.

|---|---|---|
| D-6 | Review last issue; approve theme and sections | Editor-in-chief |
| D-5 | Commission stories; allocate reporting and photography | Managing and section editors |

| D-1 | Layout, proofreading, image checks, corrections | Designers and proof editors |

From page plan to press
Professional layout, with every version accounted for
Freeze
The edition manager freezes approved article versions and builds a package: text, styles, images, credits, rights, checksums.
Check out
A designer checks out a page with a lock lease and opens it in the desktop layout studio with versioned Arabic and English templates.
Compose
Pages are composed locally; copy-fit text changes go back to editors for approval, never silently.
Proof
Layout, proof PDF and preflight result are uploaded; stale sources, expired locks or new corrections block approval.
Release
Every page is visually reviewed; the released issue keeps immutable hashes, print and reader PDFs and a web edition.
How we will prove it
Acceptance tests, not promises
CHERTPRESS is complete only when these pass on the deployed platform — eighteen acceptance tests in all.
University isolation
University A cannot search, retrieve, export or download University B's private material.
Arabic and English
Complete editorial and publication workflows pass in both languages.
Stale layout
A critical source correction blocks an unreviewed edition release.
API replay
An interrupted consumer resumes without missed events; duplicates are handled safely.
Credential revocation
A disabled user or client loses access everywhere, including downloads.
Recovery
An issue, its assets, rights, lineage and identities are restored from backup.
