Pitch
A reporter proposes a story
A student reporter pitches a story to their bureau. The bureau editor accepts, refines or returns it with a reason.

CHERTPRESS is a bilingual journalism platform for media and press colleges. University bureaus report, the agency verifies and distributes, the newspaper publishes online and in a weekly edition — and other newsrooms receive it all through an API.
Who it is for
Universities bring reporters. The agency turns their work into verified news. Publishers subscribe. Readers see every step.
Run your own bureaus inside a professional newsroom. Your students' private work stays inside your university until an editor sends it forward.
For universitiesLearn by doing the real job: pitch, report, photograph, verify, edit, lay out pages — and correct mistakes in public, with a portfolio to show for it.
How learning worksSubscribe to verified original reporting from university bureaus — in the agency portal or straight into your systems through the API.
For publishersA bilingual newspaper that shows its work: who reported it, what changed and why, and every correction in plain sight.
Our standardsThe story lifecycle
Ten recorded stages. Each one has an accountable person, a time and a reason. Select a stage to see what happens — and which parts of CHERTPRESS make it work.

Stage 02 / 10
Coverage is planned
The assignment links the bureau's work to the agency's coverage agenda: who, what, by when, with which media.

Stage 03 / 10
Interviews, photos, evidence
The reporter gathers evidence, interviews and media. Sources stay in the private vault; only publishable attribution moves forward.

Stage 04 / 10
The bureau editor submits
The bureau editor reviews the package and submits a fixed version to the agency. Submission is not publication.

Stage 05 / 10
Agency editors take over
Agency editors edit on the desk, request more reporting or return the story — every change attributed, every reason recorded.

Stage 06 / 10
Claims checked against evidence
Verification editors check disputed facts against the evidence before anything can be approved.

Stage 07 / 10
An immutable, versioned release
A designated editor approves. The registry stores the release with its version, credits and rights; embargo controls the time, not the approval.

Stage 08 / 10
Portal, API and newspaper
Entitled subscribers see it in the agency portal and the API feed; the newspaper receives it as an internal subscriber.

Online today, in print this week
Newspaper editors adapt the story for readers online, and production staff place a frozen version in the weekly edition.

Fixes travel; learning is recorded
A correction updates every channel and notifies subscribers. Instructors assess the work, and the contributor's portfolio grows.

Interactive architecture
Select any component to learn what it does, or play a journey and watch a story move through the platform.
Where reporting starts: university-scoped workspaces for students and their editors.
The agency and newspaper desks: plan, edit, verify and approve.
Approved stories become immutable, versioned releases with rights attached.
Five products reach readers, subscribers, printers and other newsrooms.
One sign-in; each university, desk and subscriber sees only its own.
Every hand-off is recorded, retried and reconciled.
Details appear in the panel above the diagram.
Five products, one platform
Each product has its own audience and its own responsibilities. One sign-in and one release registry connect them.

One story, linked versions
A bureau submission, an agency release, a newspaper article and a print placement are separate records, each with its own owner and version — linked from source to page.
When the agency corrects a release, the newspaper gets a review task — it is never silently overwritten — and any open edition using the old version is blocked.
Inside the platform
Illustrations of the designed product, not screenshots: CHERTPRESS is in its build phase. Real screens will replace them as each product ships.
Why CHERTPRESS
Arabic is a first-class language from the reporter's draft to the printed page: proper typography, linked translations and search tested in both languages.
Students do the real work; instructors supervise learning; designated editors alone decide what is published.
Bureau submission, agency release, newspaper article and print placement are separate, linked records — never one row overwritten.
Credits, permitted use and subscriber entitlements are checked on every preview, search and download.
One approved correction updates the portal, the website and the API, notifies subscribers and stops a stale page from going to print.
Built on intact, stable open-source engines, integrated only through their supported interfaces, and run on CHERT's own servers.
Explore by audience
CHERTPRESS is being built now. Media colleges and publishers can shape the first cohort.
